這幾天忙著想東西都沒注意什麼新聞，今天才注意到 Gimp 出新版的 2.4.0 了。Release notes 在這裡。

看起來主要是一些工具 (筆刷、selection tool 等等) 的改善、介面的改進，以及縮放的影像品質改善等等...。

其實我一直有點納悶, firefox 紅成這樣是怎樣 - 明明就是個記憶體吃的肥的要死的大怪物。當然 extension 有不少很棒的玩意兒, 但是這麼肥的東西跑起來就是很不爽啊~~

眾人都在琢磨 firefox 吃這麼多記憶體的原因在哪裡, 哪些地方可能有 leak, 1.5.0.1 release 的時候也修了一部分的 leaking...

沒想到今天就在 slashdot 看到這篇: Firefox Memory Leak is a Feature... 理由是為了增進 browsing performace, 把每個 tab 的前 5 個 session history 全部 cache 起來。想當然耳, 大家馬上就在議論紛紛怎麼把這個該死的 "feature" 關掉... -_-

對於我這種動不動就開十幾二十個 tab 的... 我是不是真的該把 firefox 換掉了? -_-

While reading a discussion in a mailing list, I ran accross something like this:

"Heh - people make their living tuning Oracle. Come to think of it, there are software companies who's sole purpose is to provide tuning applications."

Well, why can't we say "Come to think of it, there are software companies who's sole purpose is to provide tunable/must-be-tuned applications."

So, what's the role of the softwares I've written?
